Start with Dreamina's Seedream 5.0 Pro when you want the lettering and the surrounding visual developed together: a poster headline, a fictional product concept or a multilingual campaign image. Its documented text and design capabilities make it a useful starting candidate, with small copy and subsequent edits requiring careful review.

Also shortlist Ideogram for typography-led design and its separate text-layer workflow, ChatGPT Images for instruction-led creation and revision, Gemini for wording within reference-led scenes, Recraft for vector lettering, FLUX.2 [flex] for a typography-specific generation route, Qwen-Image for an open-model text-generation workflow and Adobe Express when accurate, editable copy is the final requirement.

“Best at text” needs a more specific meaning. A tool can draw a beautiful headline yet fail to change one digit. It can spell every word correctly yet make a date unreadable at phone size. It can export SVG shapes without giving you ordinary editable font text. The right tool depends on which of those problems you need to solve.

These are workflow recommendations from current documentation and bounded examples, reviewed in October 2026. They are not a same-string spelling-accuracy league table.

1. Dreamina: for text and visual direction together

Why consider it: Seedream 5.0 Pro's guide describes multilingual text, information visualization and design production alongside image creation and controlled editing. That makes it a relevant candidate when the words should belong to the artwork rather than float above a generic background.

Use the Dreamina image generator with a clear hierarchy: exact headline, smaller supporting line, date and location. Specify which text is essential and ask for no extra words. Keep critical information away from decorative objects and high-detail backgrounds.

The important trade-off: generating correct text and changing existing text are separate tasks. In an archived Seedream 5.0 Pro example, a fictional exhibition poster rendered the requested title, subtitle, date, time and venue. A later, correctly configured reference edit changed its date from November 14–16 to November 21–23, 2026.

A successful date change, shown at 360 pixels per panel

Two 360-pixel-wide exhibition posters show FORM & LIGHT and dates changing from NOV 14–16 to NOV 21–23, 2026

The source and revised posters are proportionally reduced here without retouching. The change is visible, and the overall composition remains recognizable. The edited file is not pixel-identical outside the date. An earlier run accidentally included unrelated reference images and was excluded from the valid comparison; the displayed revision used the intended single poster input.

A different time edit did not succeed

Another archived task asked an inpaint operation to change 7 PM to 8 PM on a fictional Moonlight Party invitation. One submission returned four variations. All four retained 7 PM.

Four retained Moonlight Party invitation results each still display 7 PM after the requested change to 8 PM

This is a separate example, not the failed first version of the exhibition poster. Together, the cases show why a short string still needs inspection after an edit. A successful date change does not establish a general text-edit success rate.

When to change route: if a price, deadline or venue will change repeatedly, keep it in an ordinary text layer from the start. Generate the distinctive artwork in Dreamina, then add or maintain that information in a design editor. Where a supported generative edit is appropriate, check both the replacement string and the rest of the design.

Access: US users have 120 daily free credits, with actual output quantities dependent on the settings. The examples above came from a historical Basic account and do not prove current Free access to Pro or every editing feature. Seedream 5.0 Lite and Pro have distinct capabilities and entitlements.

2. Ideogram: distinguish generated type, text layers and vectors

Why consider it: Ideogram offers several useful routes for text-led work. Its image models address designed compositions and lettering; its current 4.5 model includes text modification among its editing uses. Its Studio workflow can also turn detected words in a flat image into editable text layers.

The practical advantage: Layerize Text detects lettering, removes it from the raster image and recreates it in Studio. You can then change wording, font, size, color, alignment and position. That is useful for a promotional image whose offer or date needs revision without repeatedly asking an image model to paint the characters again.

The trade-off: the background beneath the original words is reconstructed, and the replacement type can differ from the original. Some lettering may not be detected. Photographs, illustration and chart marks remain part of the image. Review both the extracted text and the visual repair rather than treating the conversion as recovery of the original design file.

A separate Ideogram Vector model generates editable SVG artwork. That is a different workflow from Layerize Text and from a raster Precise Edit. Choose text layers when you need to rewrite copy; choose vectors when individual shapes and scalable artwork are the intended handoff.

Access: Layerize Text is available to signed-in users including Free users, but Studio tools consume credits and some export sizes or formats require payment. Eligible Free sign-ins receive 30 weekly credits, and free generations are public. A free account does not establish free access to every model, export and revision operation.

3. ChatGPT Images: for words that belong in a detailed scene

Why consider it: ChatGPT Images is useful when the wording is one part of a complex visual instruction: a storefront sign, a labeled illustration or a campaign concept. Images 2.5 supports reference-led creation and successive edits; comments and Sketch can help communicate what should change or where an element belongs.

How to direct it: put the literal text in quotation marks, specify case and punctuation, name its location and describe the hierarchy. “Put ‘OPEN UNTIL 8 PM’ on the window in large dark lettering” gives a clearer instruction than “add an opening-hours sign.” Explain whether the lettering should look painted on glass, printed on paper or added as flat graphic type.

The trade-off: a conversation is an editing interface, not an editable font file. Correcting one line can still alter nearby texture, lighting or earlier details. After each revision, recheck the whole message and the image. For a menu or legal footer, the effort of inspecting many generated characters may exceed the effort of typesetting them directly.

Access: Images 2.5 is offered across ChatGPT tiers with usage limits; no fixed free image count is assumed here. API Flare and Sunburst variants and third-party platform selectors have their own prices and controls. Do not copy a provider's API setting into a claim about a free chat experience.

4. Gemini: for signs and labels guided by reference images

Why consider it: Gemini's Nano Banana workflow can create a scene or revise an uploaded image. It is a useful candidate for a sign on a building, a label on a fictional package or wording within a reference-led composition.

Choose the right variant: Nano Banana 2 accepts multiple references. Nano Banana Pro is available through a paid Google AI plan for Redo with Pro. Nano Banana 2 Lite, used with Flash-Lite, is intended for quick images and basic ideas; Google's help says it is not designed for multiple references or multiple edits.

That distinction changes the recommendation. A simple “OPEN LATE” concept is different from a bilingual package requiring several source images and repeated copy revisions. If the latter is your job, evaluate the supported reference and editing route rather than treating every Gemini image request as the same model.

The trade-off: text in perspective, curved packaging and reflective materials adds another requirement beyond spelling. Check whether the letters follow the surface correctly and whether the source object retains its shape. For a real product label that must remain exact, keeping the approved label as a source layer can be preferable to regenerating it.

Access: image editing requires an adult account. Current Gemini downloads are 1K without an AI plan and 2K with one. Those are Gemini-specific conditions, not universal Nano Banana entitlements in other apps.

5. Recraft: when the lettering needs a vector handoff

Why consider it: Recraft's V4.1 Vector route produces SVG artwork from a prompt. That makes it relevant to lettering, badges and wordmark concepts that need scalable shapes, recoloring or refinement in a vector editor.

The useful distinction: an SVG can contain letter shapes you edit as paths. That does not necessarily mean the words remain a live text object with a selectable font. If your next task is to change “2026” to “2027” in an ordinary text field, inspect the actual file structure rather than assuming every vector export behaves that way.

Recraft also offers raster generation and raster-to-SVG conversion. Generating a vector directly and tracing an existing image are different routes with different cleanup work. For a short lettering concept, direct vector generation can be worth trying; for a photo with a small sign, a raster image-editing model may be the more natural choice.

The trade-off: editable paths still require typographic judgment. Check spacing, repeated letter shapes, counters and readability at small size. SVG does not make a generated brand mark finished or cleared for exclusive use.

Access: Recraft offers free vector experimentation and SVG export, but its Free outputs are public, owned by Recraft and not licensed for commercial use. Paid generation has different rights. A free download and a commercially usable identity asset are separate conditions.

6. FLUX.2 [flex]: for a typography-specific image workflow

Why consider it: Black Forest Labs identifies FLUX.2 [flex] as the typography-specialized member of the family, with adjustable inference steps and guidance controls. It is a useful candidate when text is part of a custom generation workflow and you want to select a specific model rather than rely on an app's automatic choice.

How to direct it: BFL's own typography guidance recommends quoting the literal words and describing font style, relative size and placement. The same distinction applies to a headline and a footer: specify which should dominate rather than asking for uniformly “beautiful text.”

The trade-off: model controls can help you tune a result, but they do not turn a prompt into a guaranteed production layout. Inspect exact wording and punctuation, and use a design editor when precise kerning or repeated copy changes dominate the work. A brand-color request should also be checked in the exported asset rather than inferred from a hexadecimal value in the prompt.

Access: flex's hosted or API route has its own charges and exposed controls. It is not the same as the locally available FLUX.2 [klein] 4B model. Do not transfer klein's hardware requirements, license or pricing to flex simply because both are FLUX.2 variants.

7. Qwen-Image-2512: for an open-model text-generation route

Why consider it: Qwen-Image-2512 is a text-to-image model whose official release emphasizes improved text rendering, layout and text-plus-image composition. It is worth considering when you want to work with an openly available model in a compatible hosted or local setup.

The useful distinction: this is a generation recommendation. Qwen's editing models are separate releases; the ability to generate a text-rich image does not establish that the 2512 generation checkpoint can directly modify your existing poster.

For multilingual work, supply the approved text rather than asking the image model to invent the translation and render it at the same time. Have a reader of the language check characters, accents, reading direction and word breaks. A model's bilingual or multilingual positioning is not proof that it handles every script equally well.

The trade-off: the local route gives you control over the configuration but adds hardware, installation and maintenance work. Hosted versions can be simpler, with their own controls and prices. Choose this route for a reason to manage the model or compare a relevant language task, rather than an unsupported claim that it is universally the most accurate.

Access: the specified 2512 weights use Apache 2.0. Compute and hosting remain costs, and that license should not be copied to every Qwen image model or commercial service.

8. Adobe Express: when the copy must stay directly editable

Why consider it: Adobe Express can generate a poster template from a description, then let you customize imagery, messaging and design elements. It belongs in this comparison because the final goal may be an image with accurate text, even when the best method is to keep that text editable until export.

The practical advantage: a date, price or location in an ordinary text element can be changed directly. You do not need to regenerate the paper sculpture, product photograph or background just to correct one digit. Generate or import the visual, then control the copy, hierarchy and spacing in the layout.

The trade-off: this is a design workflow rather than evidence that a single image model spells better than the alternatives. If letters need to look carved into stone or reflected in a window, a generative image route may still be useful. If the requirement is a readable event schedule with several revisions, editable typography is usually the more maintainable method.

Access: a Free plan is available, with premium assets and features governed separately. Posters can be downloaded as JPG, PNG or PDF through the supported route. Check the final export and any premium components before treating an attractive preview as the deliverable.

Which route fits your kind of text?

Short headline or decorative lettering

Start with Dreamina or a typography-focused candidate such as Ideogram or flex. Quote the exact words, state the hierarchy and leave enough clear space. If the wording is woven through illustration, evaluate whether the decorative effect makes it harder to read.

A realistic sign or product mockup

Compare Dreamina, ChatGPT Images and the appropriate Gemini route. Judge spelling and the surface together: perspective, shadows, curvature, reflections and surrounding identity. A perfect string on an impossible sign is still a poor result.

Dense information or several languages

Use generation for the visual concept, and move approved copy into editable text where possible. There is no single verified word-count threshold that makes every model reliable or unreliable. Font size, script, contrast, composition and the number of separate text blocks all affect the task.

For a diagram, verify the relationship between labels and objects as well as the spelling. Changing a chart label does not update the underlying data or geometry.

For a bilingual version, prepare the wording outside the image tool first. A proposed open-day graphic could use the short pair “OPEN DAY” and “开放日”. Confirm the wording with the event owner or an appropriate language reviewer before treating either line as approved copy. Keep the same pair when comparing Dreamina with another candidate; asking each model to translate independently would change the test.

A layout instruction could read:

Place the exact English line “OPEN DAY” at the top, with the exact Chinese line “开放日” immediately below it. Keep the two lines separate, centered and unobstructed. Use dark lettering on a quiet light area. Add no other words.

This is an untested example brief. Inspect the Chinese characters individually, then check their order, spacing and line break. Inspect the Latin line separately for missing letters. A recognizable shape resembling a character is not the intended character. When a design uses accented Latin text or a right-to-left script, have a reader check accents, joining, direction and punctuation in that actual language; an English success provides no evidence for it.

Finally, inspect the exported graphic at its intended display size. If one language becomes too small, adjust the hierarchy instead of squeezing both into the original space. In an editable layout, choose fonts that contain the required characters and check for unexpected fallback styles. For a dense bilingual schedule, keep the illustration in Dreamina and typeset the approved information in separate text elements. Later wording changes can then leave the accepted artwork intact.

A date, price or name that will change again

Choose ordinary editable text or a verified text-layer conversion. A local generative edit may work, as the exhibition example shows, but repeated redraws add opportunities for unwanted changes. If the background must remain exact, preserve the approved original and composite the revised type carefully.

If your main deliverable is a complete event layout, compare the poster-making tools for their text and export controls as well as their artwork.

A useful prompt and a more useful proofread

For a proposed headline test, use a small fixed brief such as:

Create a landscape launch graphic with a simple folded-paper sun. Include the exact headline “BRIGHTER DAYS” in large dark-blue sans-serif lettering. Beneath it, include “SAT, NOV 7 · 10 AM”. Keep the punctuation and capitalization exactly as supplied. Leave generous clear space around both lines. Add no other text.

This is an example brief, not an output we generated in this comparison. Use the same literal strings if you compare models. Save every returned candidate rather than selecting a winner before checking the words.

Proofread in two passes. First, inspect every character at a useful viewing size: letters, numbers, apostrophes, currency signs, accents and punctuation. Then view the whole export at its intended display size. A correctly spelled date that disappears at phone width has not met the design requirement.

For a 360-pixel-wide mobile check, reduce the complete image proportionally to that width. Do not zoom back in to excuse small copy. If the information cannot be read, enlarge it, simplify the layout or move it into a clearer text layer.

FAQs

Which AI image generators are best at putting text in images?

Start with Dreamina for text and original visual direction together. Compare Ideogram for typography and text-layer tools, ChatGPT Images for complex instructions, Gemini for reference-led scenes, Recraft for vector lettering, flex for a typography-specific model and Qwen for an open-model route. Use Adobe Express when the final copy needs direct editing.

Can AI guarantee that every word is correct?

No general guarantee is established by these sources or examples. Inspect each output. For critical prices, dates, contact details and dense copy, keep approved wording in editable text until export and proofread the exported file too.

Is SVG the same as editable text?

No. An SVG can contain letter-shaped paths rather than live font text. Paths are useful for shape editing and scaling; text layers are more useful for rewriting a sentence. Check which kind of edit your file supports.

Can I compare a general image leaderboard to choose a text model?

It can help you find candidates, but an overall preference score does not measure your exact phrase, language, layout or revision. Compare those specific conditions before turning a broad ranking into a text-accuracy claim.

Choose for the next copy change

Dreamina is a useful place to develop an original image and its short wording together. Keep the other candidates tied to their actual advantage: typography controls, conversational revision, references, vectors, an open workflow or editable layout.

Then ask one final question: if the date changes tomorrow, how will you correct it? That answer often matters more than which model drew the most attractive first headline.
