To create ads for social media with AI, start with one audience, one offer and one action. Use Dreamina to develop the visual, then arrange the approved image and exact copy in an editable layout. Review the downloaded ad in its intended placement before publishing it.
That sequence matters because an attractive image is only part of an ad. The audience still needs to understand what is being offered, why it matters and what to do next. AI can help produce visual directions and copy variations, but it cannot supply an accurate price, a genuine promotion or evidence for a product claim you have not provided.
This guide follows a simple static-ad workflow, with a short-video branch where motion adds something useful. The example campaign uses fictional product and offer details; it is not a live customer promotion.

Decide what kind of ad you are making
The right starting point depends on the message. A product-led ad makes the item itself the main reason to stop scrolling. An offer-led ad makes the price or promotion dominant. A demonstration ad needs to show a useful action rather than simply place a product against a decorative background.
Choose one main message for the first version. You can make another creative for a second message; squeezing both into the same small ad usually makes each harder to read.
If you are still choosing the production stack, use the AI ad tools comparison. Here, the goal is to finish one coherent ad before expanding the campaign.
1. Write a brief that an image generator can use
Before opening Dreamina, put the essential information in a short brief:
- Audience: Who should recognize the situation?
- Product: Which supplied image is the source of truth?
- Message: What is the single reason to care?
- Offer: What exact price, date or eligibility wording is approved?
- Action: What should the viewer do next?
- Placement: Where will the ad appear, and what shape does that placement need?
For a fictional tote campaign, the brief might say: “A reusable everyday bag for commuters; show the cream bag with navy handles in a calm morning setting; keep the product clearly visible; leave space for a short headline and one action.”
Notice that this gives the generator a visual job. It does not ask it to invent a discount, a certification or a customer testimonial. Those details need an independent basis.
2. Choose how much of the product AI may change
There are two useful routes in Dreamina.
Keep the original product photo when the item must remain exact. Remove or replace the surroundings through an appropriate editing workflow, and preserve the original product layer where the editor allows it. This is often the more dependable route for a SKU with small labels, seams or hardware.
Generate a new scene using the product as a reference when you need a composition the source photo cannot provide. This gives you more visual freedom, but the model may reinterpret the product. Review handles, labels, proportions, material and color before accepting it.
A reference image guides generation; it is not a promise of pixel-identical preservation. If the product details are the buyer's main decision, build the ad around the accurate source photo rather than a more impressive reconstruction.
Our product-background guide explains that tradeoff in more detail.
3. Generate a visual with room for the message
In Dreamina, supply the chosen reference where supported, choose an appropriate image model and aspect ratio, and describe the subject, setting, lighting and composition. The model and controls available can depend on the account and current mode.
A practical starting prompt is:
Create a calm morning product scene using the supplied cream tote with navy handles as the product reference. Place the bag clearly in the lower-right area on a clean bench, with soft natural light and a simple background. Leave uncluttered space above and to the left for an editable headline. Do not add promotional text, prices, extra logos or additional products.
Treat that as a composition request, not a guarantee. Check the first output before generating ten more. If the product is wrong, refine the reference or switch to an original-photo layout. If the background is busy, simplify it. If the copy area is not clean, fix that before adding text.
Free accounts in the US receive 120 credits per day; daily allowances vary in other regions. You can start developing images and short videos with Seedance 2.0 for video and Seedream 5.0 Lite for images. Free access and premium model availability are separate questions. Check the actual generation quote in your account rather than assuming every model is included in a daily allowance. Dreamina's pricing page provides the current subscription options.
4. Build the ad as editable parts
Once the visual is approved, add the headline, offer, action and any necessary conditions as editable elements. Dreamina can support visual development; Canva or Adobe Express can provide a straightforward finishing environment when you want to reposition and revise those elements individually.
A useful reading order is:
- 1
- The audience recognizes the product or situation. 2
- The headline gives one reason to care. 3
- The offer supplies the concrete next reason to act. 4
- The action tells the viewer where to go.
Not every ad needs four separate blocks. A strong product image, short headline and clear action may be enough. The important thing is that extra decoration does not compete with the message.
Keep a dated offer sheet beside the design. Copy prices and conditions from that approved source. A generated line that sounds plausible is not reliable commercial information.
If you prefer an integrated AI ad builder
Start with Dreamina when you need original visual development. If you would rather supply business information and review assembled ad concepts, Canva Grow offers a different route. Its current help workflow starts with business context or assets, presents three concepts to review, then moves to generation, editing and variations.
That workflow has eligibility conditions. Canva's ad-generator page says free AI use is limited and most features require Pro, Business or Enterprise; performance insights are limited to Business and Enterprise. The suggested-ad feature described in the help is specifically tied to eligible connected Meta accounts and sufficient activity. It should not be confused with all supported publishing destinations.
Our manually assembled Canva Free examples did not test Grow's AI generation, connected-account suggestions or performance insights. Choose the route for the work it actually supports.
5. Make one meaningful variation
A useful variation changes a hypothesis. It might emphasize product appearance in one version and a supported use case in another. It might test a clear headline against a more specific benefit statement while leaving the image and offer unchanged.
Changing every element at once makes the result harder to interpret. If the second ad performs differently, you will not know whether the cause was the image, the message or the offer.
For the first production set, make a small number of deliberate variants. Give each one a plain description such as “product-led, morning scene” or “offer-led, studio image.” This makes later selection easier than a folder full of near-identical files called “final.”
Creative variation is not a guarantee of an advertising lift. You still need an appropriate campaign setup and enough actual performance data to make that judgment.
6. Adapt the layout for the placement
Do not treat a square, vertical and landscape ad as the same design at different dimensions. The product may need to move; the headline may need fewer words; the conditions may need a larger minimum size.
In our fictional campaign work, a repaired vertical Dreamina output had four readable main text groups at review size. Its small demonstration footer still sat in the bottom 10% of the canvas. A horizontal repair left the footer approximately four pixels high in the reviewed display and unreadable.
The practical implication is that “all the words are present” is not enough. Inspect the smallest text and the space around it. Compare the design with the current placement preview and overlay guides in the publishing platform; do not assume one fixed safe-area rule fits every placement.

When should the ad become a video?
Add motion when it communicates something the static image cannot: a reveal, a change in perspective, a product action or a short sequence. Avoid adding a camera move merely because the tool can generate one.
Use Dreamina to develop the relevant shot, then finish the sequence with a clear message and ending. A generated clip may still need trimming, captions, music and an editable offer card. If the ad depends on a specific product feature, check that feature throughout the motion rather than only in the first frame.
Our short marketing video guide covers that branch. If you already have product photographs, the photo-to-social-video workflow helps separate generated movement from ordinary still-image assembly.
Export, review and publish as separate steps
Download the actual file and open it outside the editor. Review it at a realistic display size. Make sure the product is accurate, the important copy is readable, the offer matches its approved source and the action leads to the intended destination.
For video, watch the exported file with sound. Keep the subtitles, message and ending aligned, balance the music beneath any speech and use audio appropriate for the intended placement.
Only then move to the platform's publishing flow. Review the selected placement, destination URL, account, audience and campaign settings there.
FAQ
Can I create social ads with AI for free?
Dreamina offers free access with 120 credits per day for US accounts; daily allowances vary in other regions. Seedream 5.0 Lite and Nano Banana provide a starting point for campaign images, while premium models and production tools have their own plan access.
Should I put the offer in the image prompt?
You can use it to explore a concept, but add exact commercial copy as editable text for the final ad when possible. This makes dates, prices and conditions easier to verify and update.
How many versions should I make?
Start with enough versions to compare a small number of meaningful ideas. There is no useful universal quota. A few clearly different messages are easier to judge than dozens of nearly identical outputs.
How do I keep the ads consistent?
Use the same approved product reference, palette, typography, offer sheet and layout rules. Recheck the actual results: a model can follow part of a style request while changing another part. Our brand-matching guide explains how to make those rules concrete.
