Key Features of Freelance Photo Editor

Four creative decisions that shape a stronger image, from the first reference to the final review.

freelance photo editor: Translate the client brief into edit decisions

Translate the client brief into edit decisions

A freelance photo editor is hired for judgment, not merely for pressing an enhancement button. Begin with the client's intended channel, audience, brand references, and non-negotiable details. A headshot, catalog item, and campaign image require different crops and retouching tolerance. Dreamina can help explore an approved concept or background direction, but the editor should translate the brief into concrete decisions about light, color, composition, and delivery. Confirm image rights and who may approve changes before uploading client files to any AI workflow.

freelance photo editor: Keep product and portrait details truthful

Keep product and portrait details truthful

Client work becomes risky when a generated edit changes the thing being sold or the person being photographed. Keep packaging, labels, product color, body shape, and identifying features true to approved source material. Use AI concepts to test mood or setting, then compare the result against the original at full size. For portraits, protect skin texture and expression; for products, inspect edges, reflections, and scale. An attractive image that misrepresents the subject is not a successful freelance deliverable.

freelance photo editor: Show revisions without losing the master

Show revisions without losing the master

Revisions are easier when the editor retains a clean master, a version history, and a short note describing each change. Change one objective at a time: warmer color, simpler background, or tighter crop. Show the client two clearly differentiated options rather than five nearly identical files. Dreamina can supply visual alternatives for discussion, but final approval should attach to a specific version. Record which elements were generated, retouched, or manually finished so later changes do not depend on guesswork.

freelance photo editor: Deliver files a client can actually use

Deliver files a client can actually use

A client may need a square marketplace image, a wide website banner, and a social portrait from the same shoot. Plan safe crop space and resolution early, then export to the requested format, dimensions, and color profile. Check for artifacts at final size, not only in a large preview. The freelancer remains responsible for licensing, accessibility text when applicable, and truthful claims. AI can accelerate experimentation, but professional delivery means the files work in the client's actual channels.
